> Development of various surgical clinics and upgraduation of the operative facilities in emergency deptt and in the main operation theater(M.O.T).
> Clinical research projects.
> Providing protocolMedical / Surgical cover to the V.I.P visitors in the Lahore.

Role In Hospital/ SIMS:
Deptt. of surgery is available for guidance of he administration in all fields of surgery and allied specialties as far as emergency and hospital department are concerned.
In the development in the hospital buildings. departmental postings and recruitments. purchase of equipment etc, the consultation with head of deptt is vital.

Clinical Research project on going are as follow:
> Tube eneterostomy v/s open ileostomy in enteric perforaion.
> Diagnostic criteria and management for acute pancreatitis.
> Carcinoma Colon presentation and management.
> Obstructive jaundice with malignancies of the Hepao biliary system.
> Acute Appendictis-gross intraluminal finding.
> Mesh repair in lnguinal Hernia.

The faculty aims are

> Factors responsible for dehesicence of wound after laparotomy.
> Closed (Submucosal) haemmorhoidectomy VS open haemmorhoidectomy.
> Karydakis operation for pilonidal sinus.
Other Information:
The unit has special interest in laparoscopic surgery, thyroid surgery & biliary surgery.Head of department also has interest in urological surgery.A program of surgical audit is ongoing in the dept. for self assessment & improvement.
