Aims of Faculty::
Newly created professional unit in the center of city has its pivotal status. Main objects of the unit is to treat patients of head injury,spinal injury, Neurosurgical emergencies. In additional all Neurosurgical procedure including Micro surgery, Neuro endoscopic surgery,stereo tactics surgeries are in paln.Most of the Micro Neurosurgical procedure and routine Neurosurgery is done in the unit. Under graduate and post graduate students are entertained and exposed to specialty. Post graduate students from all surgical specialties and Neurosurgery students for F.C.P.S and M.S are also trained. Different research projects regarding, Epidemiological studies and advanced procedure are running which are projected in Neurosurgical conferences.
Role In Hospital:
Department of Neurosurgery gives coverage to all the medical and surgical units regarding the pathologies needing Neurosurgical intervention. It plays its major role in the trauma section in the Hospital.It deals with all the paediatric Neurosurgical problems.The patients screened from medical floor, requiring Neurosurgical treatment are entertained. In spite of unsatisfactory and insufficient facilities all the patients are treated and no patients is referred to any other Neurosurgical unit in the city. The unit is run by senior most professor of Neurosugery who is at the present moment president Pakistan of Neurosurgeons.
Present Research:
Epi Info 2000(soft ware) is installed in computer to analyze different Neurosurgical pathology.
1) Congenital anomalies of craniospinal exis.
2) Traumatic brain injuries.
3) Spinal Brain Injuries.
4) Spinal Fixation procedures.
5) Infections of Brain and Spine.
6) Neoplasias of Brain and Spine.
7) Subarachanoid haemorrhage.
8) Micro vascular decompression of Cranial nerves etc.
